Important Information
- The German Embassy in London serves individuals residing in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. The German Consulate General in Edinburgh serves individuals residing in Scotland as well as in the (English) counties of Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland, North Yorkshire or Tyne and Wear. Residents of York and Selby are served by the mission in London.
Applications are accepted by appointment only at the Visa Application Centre in London.
Documents Required
Passport
Not older than 10 years with 2 blank pages, valid for at least 3 months from when applicant return to the UK
UK Residence Permit
Valid for a minimum of 30 days from the date of expiration of the requested visa
eVisa compulsory/immigration status with a share code - https://www.gov.uk/check-immigration-status
2 Recent UK Passport Size Photos

Letter of Employment
For employed: Letter from employer dated and signed, stating qualification, salary and start date of employment in the UK. And last 3 months payslips
For self-employed: copy of trade license, accountant letter
For students/pupils: no objection letter from school or university, stating the start and the end date of studies and the course title.
Travelling for Business Purposes
Letter of invitation from France on the company's letterhead, in which it states clearly: business relation that justifies your trip, purpose of the trip and duration of your stay in France.
Proof of Sufficient Funds
Recent bank statements for the last 3 months with sufficient funds to travel (£60 per day, positive balance, not overdraft)
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or property lease, in the name of applicant.
Travel Itinerary
Return ticket fully paid, in the name of applicant
If travelling by car: ownership documents for the vehicle, insurance and ferry or Eurotunnel tickets with applicant's name
Travel Insurance
Must include name; region covered; duration of cover and details of what medical costs are covered. It must also specify that repatriation cost of at least €30000, in the event of injury or death, is included)
Additional Information
First-time Applicants:
All first-time applicants submitting documents at the TLS Contact Visa Application Centre must attend a biometric appointment in person.
Applicants with Previous Schengen Visas:
If you have previously obtained a Schengen Visa with the VIS (Visa Information System) mention after January 2023 and provided your biometrics in London, you do not need to attend another biometric appointment.
Processing Time
For most nationals, the Germany visa takes approximately 10 working days to process from the date of the appointment.
